my notes + some lore below:

ADMIN & UNDERNET PROTOCOL REFERENCE SHEET

I reference information from the above multiple times, if anyone wants context (or just to learn more about Admin :]) other references are linked throughout.

So I created this animatic because I wanted to explore Admin a bit more, and I felt like the song could accomplish that, especially with the interview format. In-universe, he's having an interview with Rep, broadcasting to various AUs.

The lyrics are totally inaccurate, though it kind of follows the interview very loosely. I tried to make the dialogue rhyme & follow the same tempo(?) as the original lyrics, but otherwise I just focused on making it accurate to Admin.

I think the lyrics do well enough to get my ideas across, so I just want to talk about some visual stuff + extra info.

the globe

"YOU MAY CALL ME ADMIN. I'M TO THANK FOR ALL OF THIS."

So that globe he's holding (and ignoring later) is the symbol for the world wide web/the internet. It's supposed to symbolise the Undernet Protocol/MultiNet, which exists because of him.

This was supposed to symbolise a WAN (wide area network) (which is what the internet is) (Though I suppose a Multiversal Area Network would be shortened to MAN... but that's already the acronym for Metropolitan Area Network... maybe MvAN?). Each globe here represents an AU, and he's at the centre of it all.

the apple

The apple is knowledge (the idea came from the story of Adam and Eve, and the forbidden fruit from 'the tree of the knowledge of good and evil'). It's something that Admin is trying to reach throughout the entire video.

It's always out of reach and in the end, it's completely unreachable on the other side of the screen.

This is the code at 2:17. I had to zoom in to get the desired effect so most of it was hidden, but here it is. I wrote in his reference that Admin likes to try and communicate with Creators via game files - this is one of those attempts! (The code onscreen at 1:10-1:15 and 2:03-2:06 are also attempts). But it never works...

exec

Admin is the creator of the UP. Exec is the creator of UE (UnderEats). The two know each other well and are shown to even work together.

But there is definitely hostility between them too. Seems they disagree on some things.

Admin has no problem with the concept of UnderEats itself. He and Exec are both slaves to their desires and he understands that.

His issue with Exec is more along the lines of hypocrisy...

twinkclaren vs brocedes is literally hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby cause i don't think you guys understand how much more intense and insane those merc title fights were compared to whatever mclaren has going on right now. it doesn't even come close. the lore isn't as deep. the stakes don't feel as high. the guy leading the championship would give a thumbs up if he wins and the guy who is the championship contender has daily crash outs about everything. the only thing that's vaguely similar is that they're being bullied by a 4x redbull world champion.

olympics coming up…… athlete aus on the mind….. satoru as a swimmer….. unreasonably large wingspan…. huge hands..... thinks “official” competitions and tournaments are boring because he can’t use the goofy purple googly eyes goggles he likes to practice in…… practices at ungodly hours solely because he likes when the pool is empty because that means you’ll dip your feet in at the edge and be there to greet him with a kiss when he’s finished his laps….. they bring up the stats board and it’s just his name ten times before the next fastest person and he could still lap them, and even tho he’ll always put so much pressure on himself to be the best, it’s worth it to have you hold his face and tell him you’re proud of him... he’s gotten so much merch from events and sponsorships and he used to think they just created clutter but that all changes when you start to wear his clothes (esp the ones with his name on it… he’s not proud to admit that does Something to him)…. always looks up to the stands when he finishes a race and if he knows you’re not there, he looks right at the camera, draws an infinity sign with his fingers, and blows a kiss (which, some commentators routinely call “unsportsmanlike conduct” but he doesn’t care, and always, publicly says he’ll pay the fees if it means blowing a kiss to his girl at home)

Also, this is making me think.. what if his stigma might be related to "reaching the result of things"? If we consider Astaroth as his designated ars goetia demon, who seduces by means of laziness, what if ren's stigma alows him to sort of skip the process of anything? don't want to wait for the water to boil? ⏩️ done. I have to scrub a thousand times for the stain to be gone? Ugh, skip that, make it clean already ⏩️

I feel like his stigma is more about "results", about "immediate solutions" in a way

The Ishigamis and The Gifts of Science

Dr. Stone is a love letter to humanity and its sciences. The main character, Senku, often acts averse to all forms of affection, and the only love he doesn't deny is his love for science. But Senku is so so full of love. He just expresses it in a way other than physical touch or words of affirmation. He gives.

But let's go back to the one who taught him so– Byakuya Ishigami, his father. The love of Senku's life.

Byakuya is introduced in the tenth chapter of the manga as a dotting father who sells his car to present Senku with scientific instruments he will need for a more efficient research. This car is Byakuya's means of transportation, and given that he is crying and shaking in this scene, it could not have been easy for him to lose it. But his love for Senku is so big, that he wants to support his son's passion even if it means sacrificing a great convenience for him.

And Senku? Senku truly fell in love with science at this moment.

If there is anything that Senku is, he is Byakuya Ishigami's son through and through. They may seem like two very different people, as Byakuya is an openly affectionate guy while Senku is more closed off with showing his true emotions. But Senku takes more from Byakuya than not, and one of them is by showing his love and/or care for others through giving the gifts of science.

And it starts with Byakuya.

Byakuya had failed his first attempt at being an astronaut ten years back, but he doesn't give up and tries again. Senku then creates a bodysuit that manipulates muscle movement to help Byakuya pass his swimming test. And while the bodysuit doesn't quite help Byakuya to swim, the thought Senku had put into it had motivated Byakuya more than ever to pass the test. This is one of the fundamentals of gifting– sometimes, it really is the thought behind it that matters.

This motivation is what Byakuya credits during his interview with JAXA for passing the tests. He understands that Senku might not have given him any words of encouragement, but this bodysuit was all the words that were needed between them. Senku wants Byakuya to achieve his dreams just as badly. It's the way Senku shows his love for his father.

And it's the way Senku shows his love for others too.

One of the primitive aspects of the Ishigami village is that it considers bad eyesight as a type of "disease". Fuzzy disease, to be exact.

Suika wears a melon mask at all times to help clear her eyesight, which Senku later reveals is due to the pinhole effect. She, however, has never told Senku or the others about having the fuzzy disease. Senku himself notes how odd it is for her to wear a melon around, and confronts her about it once he decides to create glass. This is one of the most beautiful scenes in Dr. Stone, as Suika finds out that her disease was never a disease, and is finally able to see as clearly as the others. Senku basically gives her perfect eyesight, something she didn't even know was possible before.

[Antibiotics Acquired!]

One of the most beloved people in this village is the priestess, Ruri. Two of Senku's new friends, Kohaku and Chrome are deeply affected by her unknown fatal disease. Senku is such a person who would help a stranger even if there is no benefit to do so (though he would never admit to it), what more a person who his new friends truly love and care about. He cures Ruri of pneumonia, giving her a chance to live a life without the worry of it being her last day every day.

Senku forms an alliance with Gen, who plays the role of Tsukasa's spy, for the promise of a bottle of cola. Both Senku and Gen are aware that the cola is only a front for Gen's loyalty to Senku and the Kingdom of Science, for Gen needs his superficial reputation as a comfort and cannot simply join them if there is no personal benefit for him to do so.

This cola is also the first gift post-petrification that Senku brands himself on, probably because it represents the first gift that is not out of necessity and leans toward a comfort/luxury that they both used to enjoy in the modern world.

For a modern man such as Gen, drinking his favourite soda in the stone world might have been one of the happiest days in his life.

Senku cares about people so much, even if the people in question have tried to kill him. Senku sees Homura as a soldier who is merely following the orders given by her leader, but he also sees the Homura as a lonesome girl sitting by herself on trees day and night.

As usual, Senku hides his kindness and care by showing an evil ulterior motive, such as turning Homura to their side using the cotton candy, but Ruri points out that this is a facade. Similarly to Gen, a person with such an ego is unable to seem as if he is doing something good out of the kindness of his heart.

As winter approaches, the elders in the village are worried about losing people to the cold. Senku hears about this and creates a stove which has a multi-purpose of cooking and also radiating heat for the people to stave off the coldness of winter. And speaking of winter...

[Christmas Acquired!]

Senku hangs up lights in the tree for the "light bulb test" on a random night. Except the date isn't random at all and he drops enough hints for Gen to catch on that it is the night of Christmas. The significance of the day is only appreciated by Gen and himself, as they are the only modern timers in the village. It is for the sake of nostalgia, but Senku would rather be caught dead than admit that he is a sentimental guy with such irrational feelings.

And well, it all comes back to that scene with Byakuya, doesn't it? If you recall, Byakuya calls himself "Santa" while giving the scientific presents to the young Senku. This indicates Senku received them during Christmas. Which means... Christmas is a sentimental day to Senku and his father. An anniversary of Senku receiving his Christmas presents from Byakuya, which led to his deeper dive into his science obsession. The beginning of it all, one would say.

And even though he's dead and buried, Byakuya never stops giving. He gives Senku the Ishigami village to provide Senku with allies. He gives Senku Lillian's music, because he believes in the light of music and understands the importance of media to society. He collects platinum till his last breath, because he believes that Senku will need it someday. Byakuya keeps on giving to Senku, because his love for his son is so huge and unconditional. And because he promised.

Surely, there is no greater love in the manga than Byakuya's love for his son and Senku's love for his father. Byakuya could easily win ten billion best father awards... well, not like there's much competition for that in shounen mangas.

the booming music in the club almost popped your ears. techno, or something. it wasn’t really your vibe, but that wasn’t why you were here anyway. it didn’t matter what was playing, as long as it was obnoxiously loud, there was a bar serving drinks and enough to people willing to help you forget, even if they didn’t know they were doing it.

you were messed up, you knew that a long time ago, but hell was so deep you didn’t care to climb out anymore. its walls were slippery, there was no light peeking through the darkness. you were tired and your hands bloodied from years of trying to survive.

they said drowning was a beautiful death.

you were pretty certain that was a lie; the few times you tried to go under in a shady hotel’s bathtub were more painful than the few other methods you’d tried, but hope was a painful thing too. if you could choose one of the lesser evils, surely drowning would be it.

what better substance to drown in than alcohol and the very questionable pill someone put on your tongue, smirking like they finally got you where they wanted and all?

you’re sure he would’ve gone in for a share, too, if it hadn’t been for your strange guard dog. what was he doing here?

the ‘guard dog’ in question leaned on the bar with one arm, his red eyes trained on you and only you. you always did say you liked being in the spotlights, but no one needed to know that was a pointless lie. you hated it. hated that indescribable feeling of being watched, of standing out. being watched was a common recurrence in your life and standing out meant your demise. your whole life felt like a push and pull between survival and death. and while you didn’t feel unsafe with gaku watching you, there was something more unsettling about it all.

because, while you were unfortunate enough to be on first name basis with disdain, there was something in his gaze that was new to you. it almost felt like adoration, but surely that couldn’t be it. not while you were off your rockers in a disreputable nightclub god knows where, with your make-up running and your eyes red from the substances in your system, whatever those may be.

you swayed lightly from side to side, trying to stay upright by the bar. you’d swear you’ve been waiting for the bartender for at least ten minutes by now, but he didn't seem to make any plans coming to serve you anytime soon.

shooting a glare at the man beside you, you scoffed.

whatever the reason was, somehow you knew he had something to do with it. how were you going to get rid of this guy?

gaku didn’t drink, at least, you hadn’t seen him touch a drink. at best, you’d seen him order a water. water, in a club, of all things. with a strange look on your face, you’d laughed at him, but he hadn’t even so much as grimaced. he just looked at you, with those unsettling red eyes, pushing your glass of umeshu towards you without a word. you’d taken the drink with a scowl. how ridiculous.

“are you twelve?” you’d asked him, turning your eyes away.

but instead of humouring your sneer, he just held the glass up for you. “someone’s got to make sure you get home.”

“my god.”

the sweetness of the drink was a welcome distraction from that awkward encounter. gaku had since learned that you didn’t have much of a sweet tooth; you much preferred the burn whisky left in your throat. at least it reminded you, you were still alive. still suffering. you didn’t know why he tagged along either; uzuki kei would have sent anyone else to tail you, if he so pleased to keep a closer eye on you. he didn’t drink, nor did he dance. in fact, he hardly ever left the bar; only if it meant following you, like he couldn’t leave you out of his sight for more than five minutes.

maybe he couldn’t. maybe you were wrong and he was sent by uzuki after all. or maybe he just simply didn’t trust you.

or worse: maybe he was looking after you.

that thought was scarier to you than getting caught in the riptide, or the faceless strangers you’d let throw you around like a used rag. because if there was anything you knew, it was those who came close to you got scorched.

Shen Yuan is reborn in PIDW without a system, he tries to pass himself as a girl because it makes it less likely to die even if he still is canon fodder.

Somehow he gets in the sect and EVERYONE believes he is a girl(yes, even the peak lords)

He's still oblivious as hell so he believes he was being bullied as a kid because of his background when actually people were "pulling his pigtails" because they had/have a crush on him.

Since Ichigo dies at about 15, and Hatake get their marks at like 14? what do her clan markings look like? 👀

OHHH OK THIS IS ACTUALLY A WHOLE THING, SO,

Ichigo got moon stripes !! It's also known as the story teller stripes, and is the traditional tattoos of the Hatake clan's religious leader and story keeper. Which Ichigo does end up in training to become!

There's actually a bit of drama with the fact that Yuki, the current clan shaman, is so old (she's in her 70's, which is basically like being in her 120's for a shinobi), and she's only now picking an apprentice in Ichigo.

Yuki did actually have an apprentice before, who was fully trained and set up to take up the position whenever Yuki died— but they were one of the 5 Hatake to die to illness the winter before the Hatake were summoned to iron court (which is the event that got the ball rolling on the Hatake joining Konoha a year or two later)

Yuki settled on Ichigo being her next apprentice relatively quickly after that, but wouldn't actually tell anyone about it for some more years— stubbornly staying quiet on the topic even when pressed with increasingly stressed and worried questions about it. Ichigo was only about 8 at the time, but Yuki set to training her just a little bit under the table

It was easy enough, when Ichigo was always happy to listen to her stories and gossip about past and present events. Ichigo kind of ended up soaking in a lot of things she'd be expected to learn in the role (religious rights / mythos of spirits and gods / traditions and why they do them / stories passed down through the family / etc.) naturally throughout the years.

Finally, Ichigo turned 14 and lead her first hunt— the marker of a Hatake coming of age. Afterwards, it was Yuki's job to give her the stripes Yuki deemed to 'fit her best,' which is ofc when she gave her the moon stripes and officially announced her plans with a "teehee congrats <3"

It wasn't actually too much of a surprise to those who'd been paying attention to what had been going on, but still caught some off guard. Ichigo had been "training" for like, 6 whole years at that point, without even realizing it. So she was honestly pretty well into her education on the roll, and would probably only need a few more years afterwards to be deemed officially ready to take it on

But then ofc, she dies a year later. And Yuki dies in very quick succession. (Losing her third apprentice, and so old already, had done terrible things to her heart and spirit) And with both of them went a very large portion of the clans history.

Others in the clan, of course, still knew plenty. Yuki's teachings had not been for Ichigo alone, and many had sat by her side and listened to her stories as well. But no single person knew as much as they had or had been in the same position of authority to do things like honoring the spirits of their ancestors or assigning Hatake stripes to their young.

In their deaths, Haruka had to take up many of their duties, mostly by default via being the highest other figure of respect in that regard. But they lost a lot.

There's some sort of interesting point to be made that the Hatake's religious leader wears tattoos that symbolize a red moon. And that Kaguya-hime is among the gods they pay respects to.

I don't really have any real thoughts on it other than going "hmm." and writing that down to reference later, but like !! That's something

saying this as respectfully as possible but. Do not put fandom content creators on a pedestal. We are also just fans contributing to a community just as you are. We have boundary on our own work and that’s it. What I say is not and should not be considered sth the whole fandom should listen to. I’m just a normal ass person ranting about things on my blog. If it does not have a fandom tag for others to engage in, do not make it out to be me trying to start fights or addressing the whole community. Because it’s not.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, my art, my lore talk, is biased. I’ve never tried to hide that I view Marika a certain way and will always develop my theory following that base assumption.

Aside from translation stuffs and pointing out in-game items, everything else I say you can look at it, agree or disagree, and move on to form your own opinions. Just because I draw stuffs doesn’t mean you get to saddle me with responsibilities about managing fandom expectations. What the hell? I’m a fan artist, I’m the last person who you should look at for “leaderism” (?) WHAT?

I can and will be a hater in my own space, like I know sometimes other artists will just post their stuffs and not engage too heavily with fandom, and for a while I did try to do that here (because I’m already a dramatic ass on twitter), that’s just not me though.

You will get art and you will get my opinions as well.
